War of Wizards (WoW) is a strategy, fantasy, PBeM (Play By e-Mail) game involving wizards raising armies, managing resources and researching magic. As a player you can: Send heroes exploring towers, caves and graveyards, build armies and send them out to conquer your enemies, research the magic arts in areas ranging from Necromancy to Druidic, construct towns, defences and buildings such as Sages Guilds, Taverns, Ship Yards and Beast Pits, feed peasants generously or enslave them. Basically you can do as you wish.
The only restriction is surviving the onslaught of other wizards with similar megalomaniacal intentions. Diplomacy is the key, conversing with other wizards to trade resources, forge alliances and backstab others.
The WoW Server is in the progress of being moved. We have to complete the migration of the mail server, and recompile all the programs, the webserver, and databases have all been moved. We expect this to all be working in the next 10 hours.
So I know you have all been waiting for WoW to kick off again in a big way. The wait is nearly over. The decision to leave my previous company that I had been at for over 12 years so that I could focus on WoW for a while and start my own business was a big one. I finished a couple of weeks ago after a very hectic two months getting everything finished that I wanted to. Since then getting everything sorted out so that I could start with WoW has been my focus. Was amazing how much admin there is in setting up a new company.
Sycul asked about sending messages to players you do not have an email address for. Unlike in WoW 2. Where we published everyone’s email address for SPAM harvesting. We will not put anyone email address on the web pages. For further email privacy we will let players give out their email address via the message command to other in game players by use of the #WOW MESSAGE command.
I have today applied a lot of new code changes to the order processing system that I am testing out now. If you have any problems please do not hesitate to let me know. Thanks.
Our latest plan of attack for WoW Development;
Phase 1 - Automated PBeM (except opening/closing games)
1) Move to new database
2) Running turns automated
3) Signup System - allocating to names
4) Solo Games
* marketing for new play testers once 3 achieved to fill solo games
Well it feels like WoW has been a bit quite for the last six or so weeks. You would be right. My full time job and real life activities with the three kids has been going from crazy, to mad, to downright nuts. More recently in the last week things have started to settle down and back to what I would call normal. Which will be fantastic for WoW. The last week I have coded quite a lot more on the automated turn running and moving a number of key back end components into the database.
